Karirā is a PhD candidate and a member of the Academic Leadership Team that oversees the transition programme at the University of Canterbury, and personally developed the Māori and Pasifika learning cohort, entitled, “Te Waka Talanoa” within the bridging programmes at the University of Canterbury.
A Tiriti o Waitangi educator for seven years at tertiary level, and cultural competence facilitator for staff, Karirā is well versed and passionate about family, music, Māori and Polynesian educational empowerment and the advancement of indigenous influence.
