Consultant / Facilitator / Events

Dietrich Soakai is a spoken word poet and aspiring author. Dietrich was lured into Spoken Word by an ‘informal’ date gone wrong. Being of Tongan, Sāmoan, German, Irish, Scottish, English and Fijian heritage, Spoken Word was never something he aspired nor heard of. Little did he know his upbringing of hip hop, punk and bible verses would be the poetic sustenance that would grow him into the poet he is today.

Dietrich was a member of the South Auckland Poets Collective and was employed for 3 years by the legendary Not for Profit Organisation - Action Education. He had the privilege of facilitating Spoken Word workshops up and down the country and was a founding member for the first Inter-high school poetry slam called “Word The Front Line”.

Dietrich believes poetry is what it means to be human, to be alive, to share story, perspective and feeling. He is currently writing his first book of poems and hopes to share them with the world soon.
